2006 - 2015 Mazda Miata | Used Vehicle Spotlight

2006-2015 Mazda Miata | Used Vehicle Spotlight

There are a lot of reasons that Mazda Miata owners and fans often say, "Miata is always the answer." It's affordable, fun, reliable, and just practical enough to be more than a car for the weekend. But the model has now been in production for 30 years and four generations, and those four generations feature a few mid-cycle refreshes. So sure, Miata may be the answer, but that leaves another question: Which Miata is the answer for you?

Though you can't really go wrong with any Miata, possibly the easiest for a lot of people to get into is the third generation (commonly referred to as the NC, preceded by the NA and NB, and superseded by the current ND). It maintained the essence of what makes a Miata great – light weight, playful handling, driver engagement – but also made strides in daily livability. The third generation (2006-2015) is the most refined and spacious example. Plus, it's new enough to have a few more modern conveniences while being old enough to be priced affordably. It's really become a sweet spot in the range.

2021 Acura Tlx A - Spec Long - Term Update | Infotainment System Hits A Pothole

2021 Acura TLX A-Spec Long-Term Update | Infotainment system hits a pothole

The first few thousand miles of motoring in our 2021 Acura TLX A-Spec long-term test car were problem-free, but that changed after we took it on a spirited drive through the winding hills of southern Indiana. You can read about how it handled a full day of thrashing here, but this story will focus on the dead infotainment system previewed in the headline.

About halfway through the twisty route, every sizable pothole or big bump in the road would cause the infotainment system to black out. A message would appear declaring "MOST NET LOSS," and it would quickly dip to black after that. The next big pothole would cause it to flicker back on, but it never remained on for any long periods of time after this. In addition to the screen loss, the speakers would make some rather disturbing crackling noises.

Toyota Land Cruiser 300 - Series Trims And Options Leaked

Toyota Land Cruiser 300-series trims and options leaked

A Japanese forum has obtained details about the next-generation Toyota Land Cruiser from a dealer. We won't be getting the so-called 300-series Cruiser when it debuts in the rest of the world this summer, but its unattainability only makes it more interesting. Here's what the leak is saying.

Like past Cruisers, there will be two engine types, gasoline and diesel, according to the leaked information posted to Kakaku and digested by Creative311. Base models start with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 derived from the Lexus LS500, putting out 420 horsepower and 434 lb-ft. A three-row interior with 60/40 rear seat split comes standard, along with manual seat adjustment, full LED headlights, and 18-inch wheels. A rear locking differential can be had as an option.

2,000 Hp Gt - R Powered Nissan Altima Looks Like An Absolute Riot

2,000 HP GT-R Powered Nissan Altima Looks Like An Absolute Riot

The folks over at Hoonigan are no stranger to dealing with extreme cars, and this is certainly no exception. The gang invited Formula D champion Chris Forsberg to check out their new shop, and he brought his Nissan Altima drift car with him. Dubbed the “Altimaniac”, this absurd Altima makes around 1,300 HP (1,318 PS / 969 kW), but on its less conservative tune, that number rises close to 2,000 HP (2,028 PS / 1,491 kW).

Yamaha Develops 496 - Horsepower Motor For Electric Hypercars

Yamaha develops 496-horsepower motor for electric hypercars

Yamaha has just announced an electric motor engineered specifically for electric hypercar applications. The compact 800-volt unit is said to be capable of generating 496 horsepower. It was developed with the intent of having multiple units powering the same vehicle, so a vehicle using even just two of these motors could be incredibly powerful. Yamaha also highlights the motor's compact size a result of the gear and inverter being integrated into a single unit.

This isn't the only electric motor Yamaha has developed. Starting last year, Yamaha began expanding its business to include development of motors ranging from 47 to 268 horsepower. The smaller units were created for personal mobility vehicles and motorcycles in mind, while the more powerful units  are intended for passenger cars. These motors were commissioned by other companies for use their respective products.

Lexus Es Nips - And - Tucks Previewed Ahead Of 2021 Shanghai Show

Lexus ES nips-and-tucks previewed ahead of 2021 Shanghai show

Lexus will travel to the biennial Shanghai auto show to present a futuristic concept called LF-Z that previews how its range will evolve by the middle of the 2020s. It's not forgetting about the near-term future, though. It will also introduce an updated version of the current-generation ES, its midrange sedan, at the event.

Previewed by a 15-second video posted on YouTube, the nipped-and-tucked ES gains redesigned headlights with square lighting elements and bolder-looking LED daytime running lights. That's all Lexus is showing us so far. It's not much, but it's enough to tell the exterior visual changes are largely evolutionary, not revolutionary.

Toyota's First Global Ev Shows Its Nose Ahead Of Its Shanghai Debut

Toyota's first global EV shows its nose ahead of its Shanghai debut

Toyota, the industry's hybrid champion, will signal its intent to adopt fully electric powertrains by displaying a close-to-production concept at the upcoming Shanghai auto show. It released a dark teaser image to preview the model.

We see just enough of the crossover (whose name hasn't been released yet) to tell it shares no major styling cues with other members of the Japanese firm's lineup, including the popular RAV4. Its design is characterized by a grille-less front end (though it looks like there's an air dam on the bottom of the bumper) and angular headlights with horizontal LED accents. Toyota's blue emblem tells other motorists that they're looking at an electrified car.

2021 Toyota Sienna Vs 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid | Comparison Test

2021 Toyota Sienna vs 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid | Comparison test

Shopping for a new car can be difficult due to the sheer number of choices. Which brand do you start with, which do you skip and are you missing something worthwhile? Thankfully, minivans are much simpler. There are effectively only four choices, they're all pretty good and they're even different enough to make choosing the right one for you a bit easier.

This comparison features the two most recently updated minivans: the all-new 2021 Toyota Sienna versus the refreshed 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Besides their common newness, they stand out in another fundamental way: they're both hybrids. Now, they're very different hybrids – the Toyota comes standard with a traditional gasoline-electric system like that of a Prius, whereas the Pacifica is offered with an optional plug-in hybrid system that provides an estimated 32 miles of all-electric range before effectively turning into a traditional hybrid – but in both cases, fuel economy is the priority.
