Next - Generation Tundra Caught Testing With Coil Springs In New Spy Photos

Next-generation Tundra caught testing with coil springs in new spy photos

The next-generation Toyota Tundra has been spotted on the road before, but today's spy photos show us something truly new and different, thanks to some timely snaps of the new pickup's undercarriage that very clearly show that this prototype is riding not on leaf springs, but coils. Plot twist! Get it?

While Toyota has done a decent job of keeping that rear end hidden from prying eyes, even in public, we now know that Toyota's half-ton will join the Ram 1500 among the ranks of workhorse pickups with coil-sprung rear axles. The rear-end setup appears to be otherwise fairly conventional, which doesn't necessarily rule out any other suspension shenanigans (such as an also-rumored air suspension option), but this is just one prototype, so we can't draw more universal conclusions.

2021 Toyota Sienna Interior Storage Review | Style Plus Substance

2021 Toyota Sienna Interior Storage Review | Style plus substance

Even if it's not your cup of tea, you can't deny that the new Toyota Sienna's interior design is a stunning departure from the minivan norm. That it's found in the Sienna, forever a conservative entry in the most conservative of segments, is all the more surprising. It's as if Toyota's designers stumbled upon a Previa in the company museum and found some inspiration. As we go over in our full 2021 Toyota Sienna review, it's one of the key reasons to consider this all-new minivan.

The best thing about this new design is that it helps you forget you're driving a minivan, a fact that can be a bit depressing for those who came to the ultimate family hauler segment kicking and screaming. The high-mounted touchscreen is angled toward the driver. The center console is also high and comparable in relation to the steering wheel as a car's might be, with a traditional shifter instead of a rotary knob (Chrysler Pacifica) or weird button arrangement (Honda Odyssey).

2022 Nissan Ariya Will Come In Real Colors, Plus Some Shades Of Grey

2022 Nissan Ariya will come in real colors, plus some shades of grey

The trend among many mainstream cars seems to be fewer colors, and more shades of grey. But it seems the 2022 Nissan Ariya electric crossover is going to buck that trend with a pleasingly varied color palatte with multiple hues, plus a few shades of gray.

Among the Autoblog staffers, the early standouts are Aurora Green, Pearl Blue, Tinted Red, and the Akatsuki Copper color that was used on the concept and production Ariya debut cars. The other colors on offer include Burgundy, Gun Metallic, Warm Silver, Ceramic Grey, Pearl Black and Pearl White. Interestingly, it appears that it will be possible to get an Ariya without the black roof from the debut model. It's not clear whether that's an option with every color, or only the ones displayed: Gun Metallic, Ceramic Grey and Pearl Black. It could also be tied to trim level. We should know closer to the on-sale date for the Ariya.

Mitsubishi Reverses Course On European Exit With Help From Partner Renault

Mitsubishi reverses course on European exit with help from partner Renault

Mitsubishi will remain in some European markets after all, a surprise announcement from the company and its alliance partners Renault and Nissan confirmed early Wednesday. This is a reversal of what was expected after several rounds of restructuring were announced in 2020 as the company looked ahead to a $3.4 billion loss.

From the announcement, we can gather that Mitsubishi's survival on the continent comes care of its partners, who will supply vehicles that have already been approved for sale in Europe to be offered alongside the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross plug-in hybrid. The announcement refers to them as "sister models [...] with differentiations," which could mean anything from typical platform-sharing to some old-fashioned badge engineering. Given the company-wide cost-saving efforts, we're inclined to believe it's more along the lines of the latter.

Used Vehicle Spotlight: 2005 - 2006 Infiniti G35 Sedan Buying Guide

Used Vehicle Spotlight: 2005-2006 Infiniti G35 sedan buying guide

The Infiniti G35 hit the American market for the 2003 model year, and to say the V6-powered, rear-wheel-drive sedan was a major departure from the previous G20, a front-driver powered by a four-cylinder, is an understatement. The sport sedan finally launched Nissan's premium division squarely into competition with well-established luxury brands.

The G series was available in both coupe and sedan styles, but for the purpose of this article we're focusing in on the four-door, specifically the 2005 and 2006 models. There was a nice styling refresh in '05 and the engine got a bump in power. G35 sedans with manual transmissions offer 298 horsepower while the automatics have 280 ponies. More power is never a bad thing, especially when it doesn't negatively impact efficiency.

Why Toyota Had A Big Pile Of Chips When Semiconductor Shortage Dealt Others A Bad Hand

Why Toyota had a big pile of chips when semiconductor shortage dealt others a bad hand

Toyota may have pioneered the just-in-time manufacturing strategy, but when it comes to chips, its decision to stockpile what have become key components in cars goes back a decade to the Fukushima disaster.

After the catastrophe severed Toyota's supply chains on March 11, 2011, the world's biggest automaker realized the lead time for semiconductors was way too long to cope with devastating shocks such as natural disasters.
