Akaba Hints At More Support For Tourism Businesses

Japan's tourism minister Akaba Kazuyoshi says the government is considering additional relief measures for tourism businesses.
Akaba was speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting on Friday. The government is expected to declare a state of emergency over the coronavirus for Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo and Kyoto prefectures later in the day.
Akaba said tourism business operators across the nation are having a hard time as infections are resurging.
He said ministry officials are interviewing the operators to find out what kind of measures are necessary, and he hopes to deal with the issue promptly and appropriately.
Akaba said that if the government decides to declare another state of emergency, additional relief measures will be needed.
