Central Japan Baking Company Makes Traditional Ukrainian Bread

Evacuees from Ukraine are helping a baking company in central Japan make traditional Ukrainian bread.
The bread maker in Aichi Prefecture has developed two types of bread with the advice of a Ukrainian couple who arrived in the country last month.
The couple said they are delighted that Japanese people are getting a taste of Ukrainian bread. They see it as an important step in a cultural exchange between the two countries.
Any proceeds from sales will go toward helping people in Ukraine.
A 65-year-old male customer said he was wondering what Ukrainian bread tasted like, and wanted to make some kind of contribution, even a small one.
Kato Atsuki, president of the baking company Tramscope, said the couple wanted to show their appreciation for the help they received from many people on their way to Aichi. Kato said he was glad to help the couple get their wish.
The bread will be on sale at half a dozen shops in the prefecture until the end of the year.
