Coronavirus Infections Continue To Rise In Tokyo
Tokyo Metropolitan Government officials say 161 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the capital on Tuesday, bringing the total to 2,319.
Tokyo has been reporting daily increases of more than 100 cases since last Wednesday, except on Monday when the figure was below 100.
The government is calling on citizens to stay home except for essential outings such as food shopping, to reduce close contact between people.
It is also calling on businesses to close or shorten their operating hours.
