Delivery Of Ultra - Low Temp Vaccine Freezers Starts
Japan's government has begun shipping ultra-low temperature freezers for storing coronavirus vaccines to public hospitals across the country.
The government wants to start inoculating medical workers with the vaccine developed by Pfizer in late February. The vaccine must be kept at around minus 75 degrees Celsius.
A Tokyo-based firm produced the special products called "deep freezers." They can store items at temperatures between minus 65 and 80 degrees Celsius. They also have the function to record temperature changes every minute.
On Monday, officials were checking shipping destinations at a warehouse in Yokohama City near Tokyo.
The freezers will be installed at 100 public hospitals tasked with giving shots to medical workers in the first stage of inoculation.
The government plans to secure about 10,000 ultra-low temperature freezers and send them to municipalities by June for vaccinations for the general public.
