Empress Emerita Examined For Leg Blood Clots

Japan's Empress Emerita Michiko has undergone examinations for leg blood clots.
The Imperial Household Agency said the Empress Emerita, who is 87, visited the Imperial Household Hospital at the Imperial Palace on Friday morning.
Agency officials said she was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in her right calf last week.
The officials said the Empress Emerita is not taking medicine at the moment. They added that she has been drinking water regularly and doing light exercises, including daily morning and late afternoon walks.
Last month, Emperor Emeritus Akihito was diagnosed with heart failure. His aide says the couple needs to take care of their health, and officials are keeping a close eye on their conditions.
