Foreign Ministers Of Japan And Lithuania Meet
Japan's foreign minister Motegi Toshimitsu has said that he shared the concern over China's increasing presence with three Baltic countries.
He also said that he agreed with them to move forward with concrete cooperation for a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Motegi met Lithuania's foreign minister Gabrielius Landsbergis on Saturday. Lithuania is the last leg on his trip to the Baltic countries.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the situation regarding China.
They shared serious concern over China's unilateral attempts to change the status quo by coercion in the East and South China Seas and over the situations in Hong Kong and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
They reaffirmed the importance of maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order.
After the meeting, Motegi told reporters online that the issue of the East China Sea is not somebody else's problem for the Baltic countries and that they expressed strong sympathy to Japan's concern.
He added that they showed clear support for a free and open Indo-Pacific.
He went on to say that they could agree on advancing concrete cooperation with the EU and the Baltic countries.
