Governors To Share Information On Vaccinations
A taskforce of the National Governors' Association has decided to share information on coronavirus vaccinations to help set up inoculation programs for each area of Japan.
Officials of the central and municipal governments joined the first meeting of the taskforce that was held online on Monday.
Vaccinations will start in Japan on Wednesday. Healthcare workers will be the first to get the shots.
Tottori Governor Hirai Shinji, the head of the taskforce, said each municipality needs to create a vaccination program based on its population and other particular factors.
Some participants said they have not been able to set vaccination schedules, as the central government has not provided sufficient information about the availability of vaccine supplies.
The taskforce decided to conduct a survey of prefectural governments to share information on successful vaccinations and the challenges involved.
