Govt. Panel Asks Line For Personal Data Report
A Japanese government panel has asked the parent company and operator of the Line messaging app to report on its management of people's personal data.
The panel on personal information protection made the request to Line and Z Holdings as required by law.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that engineers at a Chinese firm entrusted with the management of the Line system were able to access people's personal information.
The information includes names, telephone numbers and email addresses of users stored on a server in Japan.
