Govt. To Set Up Panel To Investigate Security Lapses In Abe Shooting

Japan's National Public Safety Commission Chairperson Ninoyu Satoshi has ordered police authorities to set up a panel to investigate the security lapses regarding the shooting of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.
He says senior police officials admit that the security provided to Abe was inadequate.
Abe was fatally shot when he was giving a speech during the Upper House election campaign in Nara City, western Japan, last Friday.
Ninoyu said on Tuesday the National Police Agency officials reported to him that, based on what resulted in the serious consequences, there were problems with the escorting and guarding posture provided to the former prime minister.
