Health Ministry Confirms 4,204 New Cases Of The Coronavirus In Tokyo

Japan's health ministry confirmed 4,204 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The figure is down 586 from a week ago.
Nine patients were said to be on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines. The number was the same on Tuesday. Five deaths were reported.
Nationwide, the ministry confirmed 43,555 new cases of the coronavirus.
There were 68 deaths. That brought the total to 46,014.
Officials say 125 patients were in serious condition. That figure is up nine from Tuesday.
The capital and other places around the country have begun welcoming foreign visitors back. Japan eased its COVID border measures last week.
But, health experts are warning that another uptick in cases could lie ahead in the winter. WHO officials also see worrying signs in Europe. Indicators suggest that another wave of COVID infections has begun there.
