Japan Enacts Legislation To Tighten Sanctions On Russia
Japanese lawmakers have passed a set of legislation to step up sanctions against Russia.
The Upper House voted on the legislation in a plenary session on Wednesday.
The revised customs law was passed with a majority, while the modified foreign exchange law garnered a unanimous vote.
Revisions to the customs law allow Japan to strip Moscow of "most favored nation" trade status, and raise tariffs on Russian imports.
Changes to the foreign exchange law aim to prevent sanction targets from using crypto assets as a loophole to transfer their funds to third parties.
