Japan Makes Advance Payment To Icc To Help Ukraine Investigation

Japan has made an advance payment of its contributions to the International Criminal Court to help it investigate alleged war crimes in Ukraine.
Prime Minister Kishida Fumio mentioned the payment at the Upper House on Friday. He was taking questions from lawmakers during their deliberations on law revisions that include revoking Russia's "most favored nation" trade status as sanctions.
Kishida said Japan paid its contributions worth nearly 10 percent of the ICC's budget ahead of schedule. He added that Japan is the largest donor country to the organization and will continue to support its activities.
Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa said Russian forces have clearly been committing atrocities, such as killing many innocent civilians, across Ukraine.
He said Japan is taking the shocking situation seriously, and that all details must be brought to light to hold Russia responsible.
