Japan, Us Fighter Jets In Joint Flight Over Sea Of Japan

NHK has learned that fighter jets from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and US forces in Japan have made a joint flight over the Sea of Japan.
Japanese Defense Ministry officials say four F-15 fighter jets from JASDF Chitose Air Base and several F-16s from US Misawa Air Base, both in northern Japan, made the flight on Wednesday afternoon.
Eight F-16s were seen taking off from Misawa Air Base at around 3:40 p.m.
The mission is seen as a show of Japan-US partnership in response to North Korea's ballistic missile launches Wednesday morning, and Tuesday's joint flight by Chinese and Russian bombers around Japan.
