Japanese Local Train Painted In Ukraine Flag Colors In Show Of Solidarity

A local railway in Kagawa Prefecture, western Japan, is running a train in the Ukrainian flag colors of blue and yellow in a show of solidarity with railway operators in the country.
The two-car train of Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad is wrapped in sheets in the two colors. It began traveling between Takamatsu-Chikko and Kotohira stations on Tuesday. Usually, the train is white and yellow.
The train bears messages in English such as "We stand with you" and "To the Ukrainian railway operators working to protect people's lives."
A passenger said she loves the train's anti-war messages. She added that she was surprised that a local train operator had begun such a campaign.
Imai Kyoko, an employee of the railway company, said she came up with the idea after being awed by how train staff in Ukraine are working to carry many evacuees and deliver necessary goods. She added that she will be glad if the move helps people think about Ukraine's hardships and peace.
The railway firm plans to run the train until mid-November. The company is also collecting donations, which it plans to send to the Ukrainian Embassy in Tokyo.
