Kawabuchi May Replace Mori As Tokyo Games Head
A former chairman of Japan's professional soccer league, Kawabuchi Saburo, may be tapped to replace Mori Yoshiro as president of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics organizing committee.
Sources say arrangements are being made to pick Mori's successor, with Kawabuchi as a key candidate. Mori has decided to step down in the face of criticism over his comments about women.
Mori met Kawabuchi in Tokyo on Thursday.
Kawabuchi served as the first chairman of the J-League. During the Tokyo Games, he was expected to serve as the head of the athletes' village.
