Kishida, Macron Agree To Cooperate To Help Nations Facing Food, Energy Problems

Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and French President Emmanuel Macron have agreed to work together to help countries that are facing food and energy problems.
The two leaders talked by phone for about 20 minutes on Wednesday.
Kishida called for continued close cooperation to address Russia's invasion of Ukraine as well as to create a free and open Indo-Pacific region. He said the objective is to maintain international order based on the rule of law.
In response, Macron said he wants to strengthen cooperation in national security, economy and other areas.
They agreed that the Group of Seven nations should work together to sanction Russia and aid Ukraine.
Kishida added that his government has urged the leaders of Asian countries to work together to address the situation in Ukraine.
Macron said he values Japan's clear stance on the matter as well as its assistance to Ukraine.
