Line Cuts China's Access To User Data
The company behind Line, Japan's most popular messaging app, say Chinese engineers can no longer access the data of users in Japan.
It emerged last week that engineers at a Chinese firm that worked on Line's system could access users' personal information.
Line CEO Idezawa Takeshi apologized at the first meeting of a committee set up by new parent company Z Holdings to investigate the issue. He said Line no longer outsources any work to the Chinese firm.
He also said image and video data stored in a center in South Korea will be moved to Japan.
Line has about 86 million users in Japan.
