Moderna Starts Clinical Trials Of Vaccine In Japan

US pharmaceutical company Moderna says clinical trials of its coronavirus vaccine in Japan began on Thursday to seek its authorization by the Japanese health ministry.
US pharmaceutical firm Pfizer and British drug company AstraZeneca have already started clinical trials in Japan of their coronavirus vaccines. The two firms have agreed to supply them to Japan.
Moderna has also signed a contract with the Japanese government to supply vaccines for 20 million people by the first half of this year and doses for another 5 million by September.
A total of 200 men and women aged 20 and older will take part in the trials to assess the safety and efficacy of the vaccine.
The Moderna vaccine is already in use in the United States. The company will also submit overseas test data in its application to the Japanese health ministry.
