Narita Airport To Consolidate Three Terminals
The operator of Narita Airport near Tokyo has unveiled plans to consolidate its three terminals as it builds a third runway.
The president of Narita International Airport Corporation, Tamura Akihiko, told reporters on Wednesday that he presented the plans at a closed-door meeting with the local governor and the heads of local municipalities.
He said the plans include creating a new cargo district that will serve as a logistics hub, and improving access to Tokyo.
The operator will set up a panel to discuss the plans. The members will include experts and officials from central and local governments. They are expected to draw up a mid-term report before next April.
The operator intends to complete a third runway and extend an existing one by March 2029.
