New Osaka Station To Get World's First Adjustable Platform Doors
A railway operator in western Japan has developed the world's first adjustable platform barrier doors that will align with any type of train.
West Japan Railway says the ''full-screen'' door, can identify the type of incoming train and the number of cars. The company says the opening panels of each screen unit then slide to align with the car doors.
The wall-to-ceiling door system will initially be installed in an underground station scheduled to open in central Osaka next spring. The station will be served by many different types of train cars.
West Japan Railway also unveiled a new digital information board that can show individual passengers how to get to the destination they pre-registered on their smartphone.
