No - Fly Zone To Be Created Over Former Pm Abe's State Funeral Site
The Japanese government will create a no-fly zone above the site that will host the state funeral for former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, who was fatally shot in July.
The state funeral will take place on September 27 at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward. Dignitaries from overseas are expected to attend.
The transport ministry has decided to take steps to prevent terrorists from carrying out attacks involving aircraft. It plans to establish a no-fly zone within a 46-kilometer radius of the site, in accordance with civil aviation law.
The restrictions will be in place for three days starting on September 26, one day before the event.
Scheduled flights to or from Haneda and Narita airports, as well as helicopters flown by police, firefighting authorities, and media organizations, will be exempted from the restrictions.
