Police: Teen Suspect Says She Decided To Kill Someone On The Day Of The Crime

A teenage girl arrested for stabbing and seriously injuring two women in Tokyo has told police that she decided to try to kill someone on the day of the crime.
Police say the 15-year-old junior high school student living in Saitama Prefecture stabbed a 53-year-old woman and her 19-year-old daughter in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on Saturday. She was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police sources say the girl told investigators that she wanted the death penalty, so she used a knife to stab the mother and daughter whom she happened to meet on the street.
The suspect also told the investigators she left home after telling her mother she was going to a cram school.
Police quote her as saying she took a train from her hometown to Shinjuku station and decided to kill someone on that day.
Police confiscated three knives at the crime scene, including the one used in the stabbing. The girl said she brought the knives from her home, but police suspect she obtained them somewhere else as they were not used at her house.
Police suspect the girl made preparations for the attack and made a decision on the day of the crime to carry it out. They continue to investigate her motive for the crime.
