Reiwa Shinsengumi Leader Yamamoto Projected To Win

Reiwa Shinsengumi's leader Yamamoto Taro is projected to win a seat in the Tokyo electoral district.
The actor and TV personality turned to politics in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011.
In 2013, he won a seat in the Upper House as an independent. In 2015 he became the co-leader of an opposition party.
In 2021, he won a seat in the Lower House's proportional representation segment. But he resigned his seat in April 2022 to run in the Upper House election.
He is calling for the abolition of the consumption tax to revive the stagnant Japanese economy.
