Spectator Guidelines Unveiled For Tokyo Games
The organizers of the Tokyo Games unveiled spectator guidelines on Wednesday in a bid to prevent coronavirus infections during the Olympic Games.
The guidelines are aimed at restricting the activities of spectators at venues. The move is in line with the organizers' decision to reduce spectator capacity at Olympic venues.
The guidelines state that masks must be worn at all times. Spectators are also banned from loudly cheering athletes, and giving hugs and high-fives.
The guidelines also urge spectators to refrain from eating and drinking in groups in corridors at the venues.
Under the guidelines, alcoholic drinks will not be sold at the venues, and drinking alcoholic beverages on the premises will also be prohibited.
Outside of the venues, spectators are requested to shuttle directly between the venues and their homes without stopping anywhere.
They are also requested to stagger their time of arrival at the venues to prevent congestion. The guidelines also ask spectators to refrain from eating and drinking on streets.
Those who do not comply could be refused entry or be ordered to leave the venues.
The guidelines will also apply to the Paralympics if the Games allow spectators into venues.
