Suga To Work For Stability In The Indo - Pacific

Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide says he hopes to demonstrate leadership with the United States toward a free and open Indo-Pacific. He contributed an opinion piece to the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday ahead of his visit to Washington.
Suga said Japan faces a turning point, and his country's challenge will be to return to a growth trajectory and play a strong leadership role in the global economy after the pandemic.
Suga said he sees particular potential in green policies and digital transformation in taking the lead to create new drivers for growth.
The prime minister expressed gratitude to US President Joe Biden for his decision to host him as his first foreign leader guest.
Suga said he looks forward to fortifying the bilateral alliance, "which represents the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law."
He also expressed eagerness toward achieving a free and open Indo-Pacific, which he said will bring peace and prosperity to the region and the world.
