Temperatures Soar Again In Japan

Weather officials in Japan are urging people to stay alert for heat stroke due to persistently high temperatures. The mercury on Thursday has already topped 35 degrees Celsius across wide areas from Kanto to Kyushu.

The Meteorological Agency says a Pacific high-pressure system continues to cover western and eastern areas, pushing up temperatures from the morning.

Highs as of 11:30 a.m. are 36.1 degrees in Toyama City; 35.7 degrees in Kanazawa City and Toyooka City in Hyogo Prefecture, and 33.4 degrees in central Tokyo.

Temperatures are expected to reach 37 degrees in Fukuoka City, Kyoto City, and Kumagaya City in Saitama Prefecture; and 36 degrees in Tottori City, Osaka City and Fukui City.
