Tokyo Covid Cases Top 5,000 For First Time Since April

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 5,302 new cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday. This is the first time the daily tally in the capital has topped 5,000 since April 28.
The latest case count is up by 2,788 from a week ago, marking the 18th straight day of week-on-week increases.
Tokyo officials say they confirmed that three patients died from COVID-19.
They also say the number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines is seven, up one from Monday.
