Tokyo Orchestra Performs Piece By Ukrainian Composer

A Tokyo-based orchestra has performed a musical composition by a Ukrainian composer to show sympathy and support for Ukrainian citizens.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra added "Prayer for the Ukraine" by Valentin Silvestrov to Thursday's program list. It says some of the money from ticket sales will be donated to Ukraine.

About 1,300 people attended the concert. The Ukrainian Ambassador to Japan, Sergiy Korsunsky, was among them.

The orchestra also plans to stream the musical piece on its official website in May, so more people can listen to it.
