Tokyo Rally Calls For Release Of Aung San Suu Kyi

People from Myanmar living in Japan gathered in Tokyo to call for the release of the country's detained leader Aung San Suu Kyi on her 76th birthday on Saturday.
About 250 people sang a song to celebrate her birthday in front of a university in Shibuya Ward.
Aung San Suu Kyi had virtually been leading the country since she won the general election in 2015, but has been detained since the military seized power in February.
Participants wore flowers in their hair, which is her trademark, and held up banners with messages that read "We are wishing for peace in Myanmar," and "We hope her release will come soon."
A 27-year-old woman from Myanmar says Aung San Suu Kyi is like a mother to her, and that she was working hard for all the people.
She says her biggest hope is for her safety.
People in Myanmar's biggest city Yangon also took to the streets to call for her release.
