Tokyo Reports 30,842 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 30,842 new cases of coronavirus infections in the capital on Tuesday.

The figure was down 751 from a week ago, and it marked the second straight day of week-on-week declines.

Tokyo officials also reported nine deaths.

The officials said the number of seriously ill patients, who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines, stood at 34. That figure was up five from Monday.
