Tokyo Reports 34,243 New Cases Of Coronavirus On Wednesday

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 34,243 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday.

The daily tally in the capital is down more than 4,600 from a week earlier and shows a week-on-week decline for a fifth straight day.

Tokyo officials also reported 17 deaths.

They said the number of seriously ill patients, who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines, stood at 40, unchanged from Tuesday.
