Tokyo Reports 3,616 New Coronavirus Cases On Saturday

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 3,616 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital on Saturday.

The figure was up 1,456 from a week ago and marked the 15th straight day of week-on-week increases.

The seven-day average through Saturday stood at 2,945.9. That's up 50 percent from a week ago.

Tokyo officials reported the death of one patient from COVID-19.

Officials said that the number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines is five, up one from Friday.
