Tokyo Reports 5,387 New Cases Of Coronavirus
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 5,387 new cases of coronavirus infection on Saturday.
The tally in the capital is down by about 1,400 from a week ago. The number of new daily cases has been lower than that of the previous week for 12 consecutive days.
The seven-day average through Saturday stands at 5,507.7, down 22.7 percent from the previous seven-day period.
Tokyo officials reported four deaths on Saturday.
The number of seriously ill patients on a ventilator or an ECMO heart-lung machine in the capital is 14, unchanged from Friday.
The nationwide tally of daily infections was 43,966. The number is down by about 3,600 from a week ago.
