Tokyo Reports 5,583 New Coronavirus Infections On Tuesday

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government on Tuesday reported 5,583 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital, down more than 1,300 from a week ago.

Tokyo officials also reported four deaths on Tuesday.

The number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines in Tokyo was 15, unchanged from the previous day.

The nationwide tally of infections on Tuesday was 40,893.
