Tokyo Reports 6,713 New Covid Cases, Down From A Week Ago

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 6,713 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday. The number is down about 1,800 from a week ago.

Tokyo officials also reported eight deaths on Thursday.

The numbers of new daily cases have been lower than the previous week's figures for ten consecutive days.

The household transmission rate is high. Family transmissions made up 69 percent of the 2,394 traceable cases.

The number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines in Tokyo is 15. The number was the same on Wednesday.

The nationwide tally of daily infections is 47,131. That number is down by about 8,000 from a week ago.
