Tokyo Reports 6,776 New Covid Cases, Down From A Week Ago
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 6,776 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday. The number is down about 1,500 from a week ago.
Tokyo officials also reported five deaths on Wednesday.
The numbers of new daily cases have been lower than the previous week's figures for nine consecutive days.
The household transmission rate was high. Family transmissions made up 67.5 percent of the 2,395 traceable cases.
The number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines in Tokyo is 15. The number was the same on Tuesday.
The nationwide tally of daily infections is 47,899. That number is down by about 10,000 from a week ago.
