Tokyo Reports 91 New Coronavirus Cases On Monday

Tokyo Metropolitan Government officials say 91 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the capital on Monday, bringing the total to 2,158.
It marks the first time in six days that fewer than 100 new cases have been confirmed in the city. Seventy-nine new daily cases were reported last Tuesday.
The same day, Prime Minister Abe Shinzo declared a state of emergency in 7 prefectures, including Tokyo. Since then, the Metropolitan Government has been calling on residents to avoid non-essential outings.
It is also asking department stores, restaurants and other businesses to temporarily cease operations or shorten opening hours.
