Tropical Storm Aere Approaching Kyushu In Southwestern Japan

Tropical storm Aere is heading north toward Japan's Kyushu region after passing near Okinawa. It is expected to come very close to Kyushu and may make landfall there on Tuesday.
Weather officials are warning of heavy rain and strong winds in Okinawa on Sunday and in southern Kyushu on Monday and Tuesday.
They say the storm was 150 kilometers west-northwest of Okinoerabu Island in Kagoshima Prefecture at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. They say the system was moving north at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
The tropical storm is likely to move north over the East China Sea and may change its course eastward.
It has an atmospheric pressure of 996 hectopascals at its center with maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour and maximum gusts of 90 kilometers per hour.
Officials are forecasting maximum gusts of 108 kilometers in the Okinawa and Amami regions on Sunday and in northern Kyushu on Monday.
Extremely heavy rain of 120 millimeters may fall in southern Kyushu in the 24 hours through Monday morning. Up to 100 millimeters is forecast in the Okinawa, Amami and Shikoku regions and up to 80 millimeters in northern Kyushu in the 24 hours through Monday morning.
Officials are warning people to watch out for high waves, landslides and strong winds.
