Tropical Storm Aere Heads Toward Kyushu In Southwestern Japan

Tropical storm Aere is heading north toward Japan's southwestern main island of Kyushu after passing near Okinawa. It is expected to come very close to Kyushu, possibly making landfall there on Tuesday.
Weather officials are warning of heavy rain in western and eastern Japan.
They say the storm was moving north-northwest on the East China Sea at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour as of 6 p.m. on Sunday.
It has an atmospheric pressure of 996 hectopascals at its center with maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour and maximum gusts of 90 kilometers per hour.
Extremely heavy rain of 200 millimeters may fall in southern Kyushu in the 24 hours through Monday evening. Up to 150 millimeters is forecast in the Amami Islands and northern Kyushu, and up to 100 millimeters in the area of Shikoku in the 24 hours through Monday evening.
Officials are warning people to watch out for high waves, landslides and strong winds.
