Ukrainian Evacuee Begins Studying At The University Of Tokyo
A Ukrainian evacuee has begun studying at the University of Tokyo.
Iryna Petrychenko, a researcher from a state university in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, has been in Japan since March 21.
The University of Tokyo has decided to accept Ukrainian students and researchers who cannot continue their work in their own country. She applied for the special program after receiving information from her acquaintances.
Petrychenko previously studied in Japan and speaks Japanese. She said the war has changed her life completely, and she deeply appreciates the university's generosity.
Another researcher from Ukraine will soon begin studying at the university, which plans to accept up to 50 people from the country under the program.
