Ukrainians Experience Joys Of Summer On A Tokyo Island

Ukrainians had the chance to share the summer joys of Tokyo's Hachijo Island and mingle with the people there.
Local residents invited 18 Ukrainians to the island to show them the area's abundant natural charms.
The invitees include those who evacuated to Japan after the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Many are children and teenagers.
After arriving on the island on Friday, the Ukrainian visitors tried camping and joined the locals for a summer treat -- chilled noodles flowing down a bamboo chute.
During their four-day visit, they also danced to the beat of a traditional Japanese drum.
A first-time visitor to the island says the children are enjoying the trip and have made many friends.
