For 2020, Toyota Camry customers have the new option of all-wheel drive when considering exactly what version of the popular sedan to buy. The extra two wheels of propulsion are available with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine on LE, SE, XLE, XSE, and Nightshade trims. No matter which trim is selected, all-wheel drive will be a $1,400 upcharge.

Autoblog's James Riswick tested and reviewed both the 2020 Camry AWD and the 2021 Toyota Avalon AWD sedans earlier this month, but at the time, Toyota had not announced just how much the feature would cost. The current-generation Camry launched for the 2018 model year, but this is the first year all-wheel drive has been offered, a corporate switch largely prompted by consumer demand. 

The S2000's long-rumored successor is nowhere to be found. Instead, Honda is helping owners keep their aging drop-tops on the road by relaunching production of hard-to-find parts. And it's inviting enthusiasts to chime in.

Manufactured from 1999 to 2009, the S2000 became an instant classic that remains highly sought-after even a decade after it retired. The earliest examples are old enough to drink, and finding parts is becoming increasingly difficult because they don't regularly appear in junkyards, so Honda hopes to make maintaining — and, soon enough, restoring — an S2000 a breeze by offering a selection of factory-built parts through its dealer network.

Subaru will address one of the Crosstrek's biggest shortcomings by making a 2.5-liter flat-four engine available in time for the 2021 model year. It will power the range-topping Limited trim and a new Sport-badged model.

You asked, and the Japanese company is listening. Tom Doll, the CEO of Subaru's American division, told industry trade journal Automotive News that many customers have complained about the 152-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has powered the current-generation Crosstrek since its launch. Put bluntly: It's slow. 

HONG KONG/BEIJING — Autonomous driving firm Pony.ai said on Wednesday it has raised $462 million (425 million pounds) in its latest funding round, led by an investment by Japan's largest automaker Toyota.

Toyota invested around $400 million in the round, Pony.ai said in a statement, marking its biggest investment in an autonomous driving company with a Chinese background.

TOKYO/LOS ANGELES — Panasonic will exit solar cell production at Tesla's New York plant, the latest sign of strain in a partnership where Panasonic's status as the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) maker's exclusive battery supplier is ending.

The move increases uncertainty over Tesla's solar business which is already under scrutiny, having been drastically scaled back since the U.S. firm bought it for $2.6 billion in 2016.

The next-generation Subaru WRX STI may boast as much as 400 horsepower from a re-tuned, 2.4L turbocharged boxer engine, making it the most powerful factory STI ever to be offered in America. 

Forbes reports that an upgraded version of the engine currently offered in the three-row Subaru Ascent crossover will power the new model, rather than the 2.0-liter unit that powers the current WRX or the 2.5L found in the current STI.  

Honda will close its manufacturing plant in the Philippines next month as part of a global restructuring plan.

The United Kingdom has recently been hit with torrential rain, hurricane-force winds, and generally dangerous conditions from a system that has been named Storm Dennis. According to BBC News, more than 200 flood warnings were issued across the country, and one of the longest rivers in the U.K., River Wye, rose to its highest recorded level in some parts. ABC News has video of a confusing moment during all the chaos, when an old-school Nissan Navara with a snorkel tries and fails to wade through a flooded street right in front of rescue workers.

The worker at the end of the video, at 0:22, says it all. Flabbergasted at what the pickup's driver was thinking, he throws his arms up in the air as to say, "What in the world?" The clip is short, but it doesn't take long before the Navara loses control and is swept up in the floodwater. There is no more information about what happened to the truck or how it was rescued, but it was a lucky situation to have the workers at hand.

The Philippine unit of Honda said on Saturday its production facility will shut down next month, as the Japanese automaker struggles to shore up global automobile operations.
