Fujifilm X100v Could Come With A Brand New Lens

Fujifilm X100V Could Come With A Brand New Lens

We had recently heard a rumor that the Fujifilm X100F successor, potentially known as the X100V or X200, will only be arriving in 2020. We are pretty excited for it given how good the X100 series has been, and now according to a new report from Fuji Rumors, it seems that there are more reasons to be excited for the camera.

This is because according to the publication’s sources, they have been told that the camera will come with a new lens. Why is this a big deal? For years, the X100 series comes with a 23mm f/2.0 fixed lens. In a way, this is what makes the camera so appealing because a 23mm lens is actually a pretty decent general purpose lens, where it’s not too wide or not too zoomed, making it idea for a walkaround lens.

Nikon Launches A 14-30mm F/4 Lens For The Nikon Z Cameras

Nikon Launches A 14-30mm F/4 Lens For the Nikon Z Cameras

It was last year that Nikon announced the launch of their new Nikon Z full-frame mirrorless cameras, the company’s “serious” attempt at trying their hand at mirrorless cameras. However as is the case with new mounts and cameras, the availability of lenses are limited, but Nikon is hoping to make up for it.

The company has announced their latest Z-mount lens in the form of the 14-30mm f/4 S zoom lens. GIven that the widest is at 14mm, this could easily double up as a wide-angle lens, plus the f/4 aperture does make it pretty ideal for landscape photography. Its max zoom of 30mm also could potentially make it a pretty good distance for street photography, although at f/4 some might find it a bit slow, plus the bokeh at f/4 isn’t particularly ideal for portraits.

Eyes-on Canon's Digisuper 122x Optical Zoom Lens Model

Eyes-On Canon's DIGISUPER 122X Optical Zoom Lens Model

We had heard of Canon’s UHD-DIGISUPER 122 which was announced recently, but we got an opportunity to see one in action at Inter Bee 2018 in Tokyo, and it was indeed very impressive.

Technically, the optical range of this lens is nutty: it can go from 8.2mm to 1000mm. 1000 divided by 8.2 is a factor of 121.05, hence the 122X optical zoom number. It has a f/1.7 to f/5.0 aperture. Oh, and it weighs 26Kg!

Earlier today, Nikon announced its new Nikon Z6 and Z7 full-frame mirrorless cameras. Along with the cameras, Nikon also took the wraps off a bunch of native Z-mount camera lenses, one of which captured the attention of many in the form of the NIKKOR Z 58mm f/0.95 S NOCT, which Nikon claims will be the fastest lens in Nikon’s history.

Sony Rx100 Vi With 24-200mm Lens Announced

Sony RX100 VI With 24-200mm Lens Announced

If there is a main selling point of compact cameras, it would be exactly that, it's compactness and the ability to slip it into a purse or pocket. However usually this also means having to compromise on things like image quality because there are only so many parts that can fit into a compact body.

However Sony has defied this with its RX100 series of compact cameras which have proven to be an extremely popular choice amongst even professional photographers who want something small. If you're in the market for a small but capable camera, then you'll be interested to learn that Sony has since announced the RX100 VI, the latest in its lineup of RX100 cameras.

Google Lens Rolled Out To All Android Phones

Google Lens Rolled Out To All Android Phones

Google announced at the Mobile World Congress 2018 last month that it would expand Google Lens to all Android phones in the near future. Lens is a visual search tool that was previously available only on Google’s Pixel smartphones. Google is now rolling out this feature to all Android smartphones that have Google Photos installed.

Google Lens is powered by a computer vision system which lets users point their handset’s camera at an object and get information about it in real-time. The algorithm, powered by artificial intelligence, can recognize real-world items.

New Nokia 7 Plus Specs Leaked, Reveals Possibly Dual-Lens Camera

When the Nokia 7 was launched, it was a phone that was limited to China, but word on the street has it that HMD Global might have a new Nokia 7 Plus smartphone in the works that could hopefully find its way to other markets. According to a post on Baidu (via NPU), additional specs might have been leaked.

According to the latest leak, it "confirms" that the phone could pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset which is what we had heard previously from benchmarks. It also seems to hint that the phone could come with a dual-lens camera on its back, with a 12MP + 13MP combo with a Zeiss lens with 2x optical zoom.

Nikon's 180-400mm F4E TC1.4 FL ED VR lens features built-in teleconverter

Nikon has announced a new full-frame lens with one of the longest names we've ever seen: the AF-S Nikkor 180-400mm F4E TC1.4 FL ED VR.

Besides its impressive range, the highlight of this hulking lens is its built-in 1.4x teleconverter. Taking a leaf out of Canon's book, the built-in converter boosts the focal range to 252-560mm with a corresponding 1-stop reduction in maximum aperture. If you're using this $12,000+ lens on an APS-C body, the equivalent focal range becomes 270-600mm without the TC and 378-840mm with it.

The 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS will be available in February for $599/£570. We wouldn't be at all surprised to see this lens kitted with the a6300 and a6500 at some point in the future.

Canon Patents 400mm F5.6 Catadioptric 'mirror' Lens

Canon patents 400mm F5.6 catadioptric 'mirror' lens

A new Canon lens patent out of Japan has been raising eyebrows around the photo community this week. The patent describes a 400mm F5.6 lens, which wouldn't necessarily be newsworthy... except that it's a catadioptric lens (also known as a 'mirror' or 'reflex' lens).

Catadioptric lenses went 'out of style' so-to-speak many years ago, but for a time they offered economical and compact alternatives to standard long telephoto lenses. The optical design of these lenses use mirrors to both 'fold' the optical path and magnify the image coming in, allowing for a far more compact design.
