Infiniti will offer free wireless Apple CarPlay upgrades for 2020-2021 cars

Owners of 2020-2021 Infiniti products with Apple CarPlay should be happy to hear this news. Infiniti just announced that owners of those vehicles are now eligible for a free upgrade to wireless Apple CarPlay.

The list of eligible models includes 2020-2021 Q50, Q60, QX50 and QX80. All of those vehicles already have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but they operate via a wired connection only. 2022 Toyota Tundra First Drive Review | Big Changes, Same Formula

2022 Toyota Tundra First Drive Review | Big changes, same formula

Despite the fact that is a 100% new clean-sheet design, the 2022 Toyota Tundra does not boast a class-leading tow rating, falling thousands of pounds below domestic rivals like the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado. It can't haul as much in its bed as the F-150 or Silverado, either. Despite the fact that the vast majority of owners will never test any of these 1500-series trucks to their absolute limits, full-size truck buyers have come to expect that a new bar will be set every time a truck is redesigned.

Toyota says it isn't interested in playing that ever-escalating game, and the spec sheet of the Tundra seemingly backs that up. Instead, the Tundra's engineering team says it focused on the things it thinks buyers really care about on a day-to-day basis. While this may be a questionable strategy for adding new customers who may formerly have been shopping for a competitor, the good news is that Toyota succeeded in crafting what may be the most car-like full-size truck.

Sixth - Gen Subaru Forester Could Get A Phev Variant

Sixth-gen Subaru Forester could get a PHEV variant

The fifth-generation Subaru Forester only recently hit the market, going on sale in late 2018 as a 2019-model-year crossover. It was just refreshed this year with revised looks, some new features, and a Wilderness trim. Japanese outlet Mag-X says (translated) Subaru is working on giving the sixth-gen Forester the kind of hybrid tech that some Forester fans have been waiting for, a proper plug-in hybrid powertrain with some of tech that sounds like it would be borrowed from the Toyota RAV4 Prime.

Subaru sells a Forester e-Boxer Hybrid in Japan and Europe, but reviewers haven't been impressed with the mild electrical assistance. The 2.0-liter flat-four and electric motor combine to produce just 164 horsepower and 193 pound-feet of torque in the UK, don't improve fuel economy as much as one would hope, and offer one mile of pure electric driving.

Lexus Teases 2022 Lx 600 Flagship Suv

Lexus teases 2022 LX 600 flagship SUV

Like so many things at the moment, the Lexus LX debut got pushed back, but it's nearly upon us. Toyota's luxury brand began the teaser campaign for the 2022 Lexus LX 600 today, in preparation for an online debut October 13 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern at the same time the vehicle is unveiled live in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. We can glean a few things from the teaser, the first being the same Lexus design language we recently saw on the 2022 NX transferred to what will be the automaker's flagship SUV. That means an LED light bar connecting two hockey-stick taillamps above a spelled-out "LEXUS" instead of the Lexus logo. The chrome accents of the LX 570 are history, the rear license plate placed in an unadorned trapezoidal recess. The rear bumper is now nearly flush with the tailgate and loses its stanchions at the edges.

And then there's that LX 600 badge, officially signaling that numbers aren't about engine displacement. Depending on market, the LX is expected to get the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that launched with the 300-Series Toyota Land Cruiser in June and puts out 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque in that model. Japanese outlet Creative Trend says this mill will eventually get hybrid assistance to create an LX 750h trim with 480 hp and 642 lb-ft. of total system output. The 3.3-liter diesel V6 with 305 hp and 516 lb-ft. could end up in places like Japan and Australia, and it's possible a base version with the naturally aspirated V6 finds its way to market.

Mazda Cx - 50 Coming To L.a. Auto Show Is The First Of 5 New Crossovers

Mazda CX-50 coming to L.A. Auto Show is the first of 5 new crossovers

Back in May, sources for Australian magazine Wheels said Mazda planned to introduce a new CX-50 crossover at next month's L.A. Auto Show. That vehicle, we were told, would be the spearhead for a range of models sitting on Mazda's new longitudinal, rear-wheel-drive platform and powered by straight-six engines we've hankered after for XXX years. The source was correct, Mazda announcing today that it will release five new crossovers for various markets in 2022 and 2023. The first will be the CX-50, which we'll see in L.A. in November and sit on the on the small platform that supports the Mazda3 and CX-30. It enters production next January at the Huntsville, Alabama plant that's part of Mazda's joint venture with Toyota.

After that come four crossovers built on the Mazda's new Large platform. The two-row CX-60 and three-row CX-80 are for international markets with narrower roads and vehicle infrastructure, like Europe, Japan and Australia. The two-row CX-70 and three-row CX-90 — the CX-90 will come first — are for the U.S., built with wider bodies, "big presence," more interior room, and all the gas-powered ponies Americans demand.

2022 Lexus Nx Human Machine Interface Infotainment Review

2022 Lexus NX Human Machine Interface infotainment review

Frankly, the all-new 2022 Lexus NX's most important change, improvement and missed opportunity is its equally new Human Machine Interface infotainment system. It also has implications for the entire Lexus brand, because it signals the demise of the unloved Remote Touch tech interface.

That such an important development arrives on one of the brand's cheapest vehicles may seem surprising, but it's consistent with the brand's product cycle: Remote Touch's first major upgrade, the infernal touchpad, actually debuted on the original NX. We didn't like it 2014 and that never changed. The new "Human Machine Interface" touchscreen isn't perfect, but it's still a vast improvement. Or rather, both touchscreen choices are vast improvements: a 9.6 unit base unit and a 14-inch widescreen upgrade included in Luxury and F Sport trims.

2022 Lexus Nx First Drive Review | Believe Us, It's All New

2022 Lexus NX First Drive Review | Believe us, it's all new

The 2022 Lexus NX is at once a safe evolution of the product it replaces and a significant redesign with long-lasting implications. Its dimensions and styling are so similar to the outgoing NX that you'd be forgiven for thinking it's merely a mid-cycle refresh, but indeed, it's a ground-up re-do based on new underpinnings. Sure, they're shared with every front-wheel-drive Toyota group product introduced in the past four years, but then, that's part of the "safe evolution" bit.

Now, there's nothing inherently wrong with such an approach to a new model. Although the NX has never been considered a class leader since it was introduced for 2015, it nevertheless enjoyed strong sales – you know, just like the Lexus ES, RX and name-a-Toyota – vehicles that car enthusiasts might scoff at but everyone else appreciates for their build quality, dependability, resale value and general competence.

Lexus And Fender Build A Gleaming Blue Stratocaster Guitar

Lexus and Fender build a gleaming blue Stratocaster guitar

Car-themed guitars are nothing new, but they can sometimes be a little corny. They can look odd, having been shaped to be reminiscent of the car they're related to, or just have too much branding. But this Lexus LC Fender Stratocaster uses its automotive inspiration to its advantage and is a stylish instrument, regardless of whether you care about cars.

Right off the bat, the guitar is refreshingly free of Lexus branding, save for the plaque on the back that also bears the instrument's serial number. But most every part of the guitar is based on the Lexus LC. Most prominent is the blue paint, which is the same Structural Blue that was offered on the LC. It gets its name from the fact that there are no blue pigments in the paint, but the materials used reflect blue light, giving it its hue. It's used on the body as well as the head of the guitar. The body also features a carbon fiber pick guard with a weave that matches the carbon fiber used on an LC spoiler. Even the knobs were machined to look like those used on the LC's sound system. It all comes in a case wrapped in carbon-fiber-patterned vinyl with leather ends.

Honda Engineers Will Tackle The Rebelle Rally In A Ridgeline

Honda engineers will tackle the Rebelle Rally in a Ridgeline

Honda will participate in the 2021 edition of the Rebelle Rally, an eight-day off-road navigation event that takes place in Nevada and in California. It's entering a Ridgeline pickup, and it's putting a pair of engineers in the cabin to learn more about how the pickup performs.

Open exclusively to women, the Rebelle Rally is not a speed race where the fastest driver takes the top spot on the podium. Finishing it requires an excellent sense of navigation, a perfect knowledge of how to drive over challenging terrain, and a vehicle capable of handling it all. GPS systems are not allowed; participants need to rely on maps, compasses, and roadbooks to finish each stage in a timely manner.

Alpine wants to 'max out' car sales Europe before expanding globally

Renault-owned sportscar brand Alpine wants to expand its global footprint but has to be well established in Europe before looking further afield, Chief Executive Laurent Rossi said on Tuesday.

Speaking to Reuters ahead of the announcement of Alpine's plans for endurance racing, Rossi did not rule out an eventual presence in Asia and the Americas but said that was not under current consideration.
