More 2022 Lexus Nx Teaser Photos Show The Suv Moving Upscale

More 2022 Lexus NX teaser photos show the SUV moving upscale

Lexus has released two additional teasers for its soon-to-debut NX, this time on Twitter. Emphasizing its Japanese roots — the first image was shot in front of Mt. Fuji — one image shows the silhouette of the NX against an Edo-era-style temple. Despite the dark profile, however, we do get a few more clues as to what the luxury crossover will look like.

The second-generation NX largely keeps the same shape as the outgoing model, but the A-pillar looks a bit more sharply raked. The hood also appears to have a raised center area towards the nose, indicating a more prominent grille.

Junkyard Gem: 2005 Scion Xb

Junkyard Gem: 2005 Scion xB

Toyota axed the Scion brand in 2016, after 13 years of the attempt to create a "youth brand" in North America. Of all the Scion models, the boxy xB made the biggest impression, and it stayed in production from the 2004 through 2015 model years. Being based on the extremely reliable Echo/Yaris, xBs tend to stay on the road for many years, but I see retired examples now and then during my junkyard explorations. Here's a banged-up 2005 xB in a car graveyard near Denver, Colorado.

Richard Burns' Subaru Impreza #3 WRC car sells for $865,000

The Subaru Impreza campaigned by Richard Burns and Robert Reid in the 2000 World Rally Championship sold for more than $865,000 last week, becoming the latest high-profile Subaru to bring in big money on a collector car auction site.

"Chassis No. 11 was acquired directly from the finish line of the 2000 Network Q Rally GB after being driven to outright victory by the late, great Richard Burns, thereby preserving its originality," the listing on Collecting Cars says. 2022 Toyota Gr 86 First Ride | Hanging Out For A Lap With A Professional Drifter

2022 Toyota GR 86 First Ride | Hanging out for a lap with a professional drifter

The 2022 Toyota GR 86 had its North American debut this week, giving us a few more details and specifications. Usually, it would be months before we get a chance to experience it in motion, but we had the opportunity to take a lap of Eagles Canyon Raceway. We weren't behind the wheel, unfortunately, but at least the ride was with professional drifter Ken Gushi at the helm.

Gushi talked us through some aspects of the GR 86, and one of the first things he mentioned was the exhaust note. He said it's higher-pitched than before. We noticed that it also sounds louder and crisper than the somewhat muted and mumbling exhaust of the current model. It wasn't obnoxiously loud, fortunately, though we'll have to wait until we get a test car to see how it is at cruising speeds on the highway.

Nissan Ariya EV delayed by COVID and chip shortage

TOKYO — Availability of the new Nissan Ariya electric crossover will be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and a global shortage of chips, a senior executive at the carmaker said on Friday.

Editors' Picks May 2021 | Bmw M3, Toyota Camry And Some Hot Golfs

Editors' Picks May 2021 | BMW M3, Toyota Camry and some hot Golfs

We awarded Editors' Picks status to a number of performance cars this month, but a couple more regular sedans won out, too. April saw us recognize four models, but that increases to six for May. As the weather warms up here in Michigan, we tend to get into the sports cars that we missed driving all winter, resulting in a sports car-heavy month of testing. That explains why the list this month is so heavy on sports cars and hot hatches.

In case you missed our previous couple Editors' Picks posts, here's a quick refresher on what's going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get Editors' Pick status. Those are the ones we'd recommend to our friends, family and anybody who's curious and asks the question. The list that you'll find below consists of every car we rated in May that earned the honor of being an Editors' Pick.

Kawasaki Has Electric, Hybrid And Hydrogen Motorcycle Plans

Kawasaki has electric, hybrid and hydrogen motorcycle plans

The automotive sector is up to its kneecaps in the global shift from fossil fuels to electrification, but major motorcycle manufacturers have so far dipped nothing past their their big toes into the electrified waters. We expect that will slowly begin changing in the coming years, a notion that's buoyed by a recent presentation shared by Kawasaki's massive industrial owner. But instead of going all-in on batteries and electric motors, Kawasaki will take a measured approach to minimizing emissions with a multi-pronged plan.

Right now, Kawasaki is testing an electric motorcycle that's codenamed Endeavor. It is rumored to have performance similar to a 400cc gasoline bike and is powered by a large lithium ion battery pack. We expect a production motorcycle with a Ninja-like full fairing sometime in the near future. But Kawasaki is scattering its zero-emission eggs in multiple baskets. According to this slideshow, the company "will accelerate the development of electric motors, hybrids and hydrogen."
