Stay-at-home measures impacting seniors' activity

The impact of stay-at-home measures against the coronavirus has been detrimental to the health of senior citizens, according to a Japanese survey.

The University of Tsukuba and six municipalities surveyed about 8,000 people. About one in five septuagenarians said they leave the house either once a week or not at all. That figure doubled for people in their 90s, with nearly 50 percent saying they don't go out at all, or only once a week.

More water injected into Fukushima Daiichi reactor

The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi power plant has pumped more water into one of the disabled nuclear reactor containment vessels. It apparently suffered additional damage from a strong earthquake in mid-February.

Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, says that following the recent quake the level of coolant water inside the No.1 reactor containment vessel has been dropping.

Professional wrestler Kimura Hana died at the age of 22 in May last year after becoming a target of cyber bullying over her behavior on the reality show "Terrace House" broadcast on the Fuji TV network.
