1993 Toyota Truck With Just 84 Miles Is Up For Auction

1993 Toyota Truck with just 84 miles is up for auction

If the new Tundra is a little too much truck for you, perhaps you'd prefer a throwback to a simpler time, one with more modest grille sizes. And possibly the perfect throwback is up for auction in New Hampshire this week: a nearly-new 1993 Toyota Truck. While some Toyota trucks have endured a million miles, this one falls in the polar opposite camp. It has only 84 miles on the odometer.

Hailing from the pre-Tacoma days, the official Toyota model name was the very creative "Truck". This particular example is described as a barn find by the seller, purchased new in Gorham, N.H., driven home, and immediately mothballed for 28 years. That's all the detail we can get, since, we only have information from the second and current owner — who's flipping it after one year — to go on, not the original owner. It would be fascinating to find out from the original buyer about why the truck was never driven.

2022 Honda Civic Sedan And Hatchback Earn Top Safety Pick+

2022 Honda Civic sedan and hatchback earn Top Safety Pick+

The 2022 Honda Civic has gone through the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's gamut of testing and earned superb results across the board. And as such, it has earned the organization's highest award of Top Safety Pick+. Not only that, but the award applies to both the sedan and hatchback body styles.

Impressively, the Civic earned the highest scores possible for each evaluation. Every crash test yielded a "Good" rating. It got the "Superior" rating for all of the forward collision prevention tests, both for preventing a crash with another car and with a pedestrian. Headlight performance was Good for all trims as was child seat anchor access.

Could The Next Prius Join Toyota's Hydrogen Offensive?

Could the next Prius join Toyota's hydrogen offensive?

Toyota's original Prius wasn't the first gasoline-electric model ever designed, but it's the car that deserves credit for bringing the technology to the masses. The next Prius will be just as pioneering, according to a report, because it will be offered with a hydrogen-electric system.

Japanese magazine Best Car learned from unnamed sources that the fifth-generation Prius will join Toyota's hydrogen offensive. While the Mirai is equipped with a fuel cell that uses hydrogen to produce the electricity needed to spin the wheels, the next Prius will reportedly gain a hydrogen-burning engine very similar to the three-cylinder unit that Toyota built for its experimental Corolla race car earlier in 2021. It will work jointly with the next evolution of Toyota's hybrid system, which consists of a battery pack, a motor, and the required electronics.

Honda Passport Trailsport Rugged Roads Gets Down To The Nitty - Gritty

Honda Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads gets down to the nitty-gritty

The 2022 Honda Passport introduces the first of a line of TrailSport trim levels that are ostensibly more off-road capable. Though this first attempt is a little light on the trail-ready equipment. Honda seems to recognize that, and the Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads custom model apparently previews some of the increased capability Honda will be adding to future TrailSport models.

The Rugged Roads was built in collaboration with YouTuber Jon Tuico, and it mostly uses already available Honda accessories such as the fender flares, black 18-inch wheels and lug nuts, trailer hitch, roof crossbars and cargo tray. But there are some aftermarket bits, too. It has a Jsport Performance lift kit that brings the nose up 1.5 inches and the rear up 0.75 inches. Bigger 30.5-inch all-terrain tires are fitted, too, along with a Roofnest tent and a Dirt Complex rear tire carrier, complete with a full-size spare.

2022 Honda Passport Trailsport Takes First Step To A More Rugged Future

2022 Honda Passport TrailSport takes first step to a more rugged future

Honda's TrailSport era begins here, with the refreshed 2022 Passport. TrailSport, remember, is the new off-road focused trim that's Honda both taking advantage of prevailing currents and asking the room, "Have you forgotten who we are and what we can do?" With the current lineup going Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Elite, we believe the rugged player will slot below the Elite. Honda didn't mention Sport or Touring in its press release, so we'll see if there are changes in store for the trim steps.

Eventually, the trim will turn into a range of hardcore factory-fitted and aftermarket equipment. For now, the Passport puts on a Ridgeline-like makeover to make itself more appealing to the mountain hike and bike set. The TrailSport's front fascia is straight off the pickup, the grille in these first images a riff on the grille that comes on a Ridgeline equipped with HPD Package. We're inclined to think this will be the standard grille on the Passport TrailSport. An HPD package is on the way for the crossover, but that will come with the expected black fender flares and HPD graphics. Honda says there's a "pronounced power bulge" on the hood, but either these photos have flattened the bulge, or the bulge is merely pronounced differently than the bulges on the current Passport hood. For Passport connoisseurs, the accent bar connecting the headlights will be finished in chrome on the EX-L trim, gloss black on TrailSport and Elite. In addition to wearing new orange trim identifier, the Passport Trailsport gets gloss black badging instead of chrome.

Honda N - Van Camper Concept Is For Those Who Travel Solo In Japan

Honda N-Van camper concept is for those who travel solo in Japan

For those who prefer to look out for No. 1 when they travel, Honda has a car to fit the bill. The company has unveiled a kei car camper concept that makes use of extremely clever packaging to create a single-bed sleeper car for the solo road-tripper.

The concept is based on the Honda N-Van, a Japan-market compact work van that is known for a cabin that can, aside from the driver's seat, fold entirely flat. While it's great for loading boxes and gear, in this case the unbroken horizontal floor makes the perfect surface for a mattress. When you get tired of driving, you can simply pull over and flop out of the driver's seat onto your bed.

2022 Acura Rdx Update Makes A Lot Of Good Stuff Standard

2022 Acura RDX update makes a lot of good stuff standard

When the third-generation Acura RDX launched for 2019, our test drive found it to be a fine return to form for the Acura brand. Not only did it cast aside the humdrum personality of the second-gen, but it gave itself a reason to exist in the crowded luxury compact crossover field. In fact, it landed competitively mid-pack amongst the German Großen Drei of Mercedes, Audi and disappointing BMW. Though we did have a gripe about how certain packages weren't available on certain trims, with the 2022 update Acura has rectified that very complaint.

We'll get to that in a minute, but first let's start with the base RDX. Acura says that one of the biggest improvements comes in the form of noise, or lack thereof. We didn't think the 2019 model was particularly noisy, but  Acura says the cabin is "dramatically quieter." Though they don't provide a decibel reading, they do inform us that a retuned Active Sound Control system and new front fender liners help reduce road noise.

Toyota Boss Says Carbon Is The Enemy, Not Internal Combustion Engine

Toyota boss says carbon is the enemy, not internal combustion engine

Toyota boss Akio Toyoda is one of the most vocal opponents of banning the internal combustion engine. He renewed his call to reconsider the measures announced by various governments around the world and warned that bans could indirectly cause unemployment in Japan.

"Carbon is our enemy, not the internal combustion engine," he said during a Japan Automobile Manufacturer's Association (JAMA) press conference. He's the group's chairman. He pointed out Japan's car industry has cut its CO2 emissions by 23% over the past 20 years, largely with hybrid technology like the system Toyota pioneered before a vast majority of its domestic and international rivals. In his view, the industry needs to "leverage the technological advantages that we have built up and take immediate steps to maximize CO2 reductions using the electrified vehicles we have now," a strategy which would free up resources to develop solutions for other carbon-emitting industries.

Kawasaki Files Patent For Electric Supercharger On A Hybrid Motorcycle

Kawasaki files patent for electric supercharger on a hybrid motorcycle

Kawasaki's been working on an electric motorcycle for at least a decade. The Japanese bike maker showed a two-wheeled electric concept at the EICMA show in Milan in 2019, but its specs seemed more suited to a scooter or moped. The e-motor in that show bike spun a continuous 13.5 horsepower and peaked at 27 hp. A flurry of patent applications over the two years have put words to Kawasaki intentions for a hybrid motorcycle as well, and it seems that hybrid might get forced induction. Motorcycle.com just discovered a patent for an electric supercharger that would run off the electric portion of the powertrain.

There have been a few powertrains drawn up in patents, so it's hard to tell what Kawasaki has in mind for a final result or results. The electric concept from 2019, known as Endeavor, was set into a Ninja 300/400-based tube frame, its electric motor powered by a large, removable battery. The motor was hooked up to a conventional motorcycle transmission with four speeds instead of six. Performance has been said to rival a 400-cc bike even though the Ninja 300 makes a fraction under 40 hp and the Ninja 400 makes 44 hp.
