2022 Toyota Tundra Spy Photos Show The New Truck's Interior

2022 Toyota Tundra spy photos show the new truck's interior

Thanks to some laughably cropped teaser images, we already knew that the 2022 Toyota Tundra would have a windshield, a rearview mirror, sun visors, a steering wheel and a dashboard with a centrally mounted infotainment screen. Shocking we know. It'll also get a panoramic sunroof, at least on some trim levels. While none of those revelations comes as any sort of real surprise, a new set of spy photos gives us a bit more detail about the next-gen Tundra's interior.

Based on the comparatively small size of the infotainment screen and the gauge cluster with actual gauges (as opposed to a purely digital screen), we're going to surmise that the particular Tundra starring in this impromptu photo shoot isn't a top-level model. We also see a surprising amount of shiny black and matte silver plastic, materials trends that were popular a decade ago. Fortunately, there's some attractive styling along with what appears to be a much more ergonomically sound layout than in the current truck, which has plenty of buttons and dials that are pretty far away from the driver. The only dial we see is for volume (perfect to turn up the grunge on the Lithium station playing on the satellite radio).

Top Olympic sponsor Toyota pulls Games-related TV ads

TOKYO — Toyota won't be airing any Olympic-themed advertisements on Japanese television during the Tokyo Games despite being one of the IOC's top corporate sponsors.

The extraordinary decision by the country's top automaker underlines how polarizing the Games have become in Japan as COVID-19 infections rise ahead of Friday's opening ceremony.

The Story Of The Porsche 924 Started Out With A Lot Of VW, And A Bit Of Mitsubishi

German automotive rivalry has seen centuries of fierce battles among some of the greatest car brands in existence. Trd Drops A Pair Of Wild Toyota Gr 86 Concepts

TRD drops a pair of wild Toyota GR 86 concepts

Toyota, by way of its performance Toyota Racing Development arm, has unveiled a pair of hotted-up GR 86 concepts. TRD created the pair of street fighters to showcase the parts that TRD is developing for the upcoming second-generation GR 86.

Just a warning before we proceed, though: The names are quite a mouthful. There's the Toyota GR 86 GR Parts and the Toyota GR 86 GR Parts Concept. Yes, the names have multiple instances of "GR" in them, and are separated only by the word "concept." Technically, TRD should be in there somewhere too, it seems.

Nissan Z Nismo To Debut In 2022, Spawn Gt4 Race Car

Nissan Z NISMO to debut in 2022, spawn GT4 race car

According to reports out of Japan, a NISMO variant of the long-awaited Nissan Z will debut shortly after the standard issue version. In addition, it could spawn a race-only variant to go up against the Toyota Supra GT4.

Details are sparse but according to Best Car, the Z NISMO could put down even more power than the standard issue Z's 400 horses. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, sourced from the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 Red Sport 400 (but mated here to a 6-speed manual transmission) hasn't seen any tweaks since its debut in 2016.

2022 Subaru Wrx Could Get The Turbo Flat - Four The Brz Wishes It Had

2022 Subaru WRX could get the turbo flat-four the BRZ wishes it had

Subaru's hotly-anticipated next-generation WRX is nearly ready for its first outing on a canyon road. It's expected to make its global debut in 2021, and a new report from Japan gives us a better idea of what to expect from the model.

Without citing sources, Japanese magazine Goo-Net wrote the WRX will receive a turbocharged, 2.4-liter flat-four engine. It's the same basic flat-four that powers a number of current Subaru models, including the second-generation BRZ (where it's naturally-aspirated), the Outback, and the Ascent. It's turbocharged in both soft-roaders, but Subaru won't simply cherry-pick the four out of an Outback and drop it in its sport sedan. It will reportedly tune it to develop at least 300 horsepower in the WRX and somewhere north of 350 horsepower in the WRX STI.

2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition Road Test | The Farewell Drive

2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition Road Test | The farewell drive

If I had to buy a new car today, this 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition would be the one in my driveway. Short of near-six-digit sports cars and even more expensive supercars, there's no performance car out there that is more fun to drive than this screaming yellow Honda hatchback. Limit the choice to cars under $50,000, and it wins without breaking a sweat.

Honda made this Limited Edition model — only 600 examples will be sold in the United States — as a sendoff to the 10th-generation Civic Type R. It builds on the refreshed and improved 2020-model-year car, making this version the most focused and dialed-in Type R of the bunch. Think of it as a Porsche GT model. Or a BMW CS. Or an AMG Black Series. The idea is to take an already-superb performance car, then make it even more extreme.

This Nearly Pristine 1989 Honda Prelude Si Is Your Taste Of Vintage 4 - Wheel Steering On A Budget

This nearly pristine 1989 Honda Prelude Si is your taste of vintage 4-wheel steering on a budget

The thought of four-wheel steering likely conjures images of fast European machines – Porsche 911s and Bentley Flying Spurs and such – but those who grew up on '80s and '90s imports will tell you that rear-steer assist wasn't always relegated to the luxury domain. The Honda Prelude Si 4WS, such as this one for sale on Cars & Bids, was one such example.

Sure, it might be a beige (strictly speaking, it's actually gold), front-wheel-drive Japanese coupe with an automatic transmission, but it's a relatively pristine example of the engineering that helped Honda's relatively simple Civic and Accord platforms thrive in the post-emissions era of 1980s transportation. Its 2.0-liter B-series engine only made about 135 horsepower, but thanks to its compact footprint and 1980s-grade steel unibody, it only had about 2,500 pounds to move around. With its high-performance tires, this gave it a serious edge in handling. The 1987 Prelude Si famously knocked off several high-profile sports cars in a Road & Track slalom test.

Toyota Teases 2022 Tundra's Panoramic Moonroof

Toyota teases 2022 Tundra's panoramic moonroof

Toyota has made a game of unveiling its 2022 Tundra redesign, teasing out the flagship pickup truck in bits and pieces over the past several weeks. This entry is no less paltry. Behold, the moonroof. It's going to be panoramic.

Like the teaser we got of the Tundra's interior — which really only showed us that the Tundra will have a steering wheel, sun visors and, you know, a windshield — this is also a view out of the new pickup's cabin more than it is a view within.

The Next Nissan Gt - R Will Reportedly Be Pure Ice

The next Nissan GT-R will reportedly be pure ICE

A new report coming out of Japan says that the Nissan GT-R will be a pure internal combustion engine model. That's an unexpected turn, as it was widely believed that the current generation, called the R35, would be succeeded by an electrified R36 of some kind.

Instead, according to a Best Car report, the next GT-R will be a heavily reworked version of the R35. It's a template many carmakers are turning to these days if they still want to offer a low-volume performance model at a reasonable price — see Subaru BRZ, Dodge Charger, Lexus IS, and Nissan's own Z.
